Initiating Sequence...
To start off this log, I want to give some background as to who I am and what the purpose is for this project. As a near-graduate at LSU, It's high time to start building up a portfolio that I can share employers. That portfolio can only go so far purely based on class projects and Udemy tutorials. For my first project I set out to create the game I've always dreamed of playing: a brawler-style 2D fighter designed around movement and momentum.
After 10 years of Super Smash Bros. and 5 years of traditional fighters such as Guilty Gear, Street Fighter, and Tekken, the fighting game genre has become a significant factor in my life. The most fascinating aspect of these games is how each game feels completely unique in terms of movement. Movement can make or break a fighting game. Since it is the aspect that players will be interacting with most, it heavily drives the type of experience players will take away from the fighting game. Therefore, I will be focusing almost purely on the movement aspect of Mecha Crusades. I will be posting weekly updates here and at GameDev.tv.
Note: Everything from the name to the mechanics to the mecha theme will likely change throughout development.
